Physick Garden

Arroyo Grande Physick Garden is located behind Ruby's House on Mason Street. Cultivation of plants and gardens have been around for thousands of years. In 15th and 16th century Europe, Physick Gardens were a place to study medicinal plants. In Colonial America, Physick Gardens were planted on the grounds of hospitals. Plants were used to make medicines and the garden was designed for contemplation.

In the Arroyo Grande Physick Garden you will see lemon verbena, aloe, giant aloe, marjoram, foxglove, and varieties of sage, basil, and rosemary, all framed by a yellow vining rose.

A bench and bird bath have been placed in the garden to invite quiet contemplation in our hurried world.

Please note: The plants in this garden are similar but are not meant to be used for medicinal purposes.
