Landscapes of Distinction Competition

Home landscapes are an important part of the America in Bloom judging of our community.

Would you like to participate in the Arroyo Grande in Bloom Landscapes of Distinction Contest for 2008?

Would you like to nominate a neighbor or friend to participate?

Size does not matter. We want to reward homeowners who have made diligent efforts to:

1. Use plants in appropriate ways, including adequate spacing.
2. Use harmony and balance between landscape and hardscape (walks, etc.).
3. Incorporate color and eye-appeal.
4. Use a variety of plants, especially drought tolerant (those suited to our mediterranean climate of dry summers).
5. Maintain yards with clutter, weeds, and dead plants removed, apply mulch to control weeds and limit water evaporation, and prune plants to keep them healthy and looking attractive.

Click here for the complete judging form.

Click here for a list of drought-tolerant plants suitable for this area.

The five winners will:

1. Have their address (name optional) printed in local newspapers and on this website.
2. Have a sign posted in their front yard for the months of April and May, 2008. (See the photos below for sample sign.)

If you would like to nominate yourself or a friend or neighbor (please obtain their permission first), send the following to Ron Kindig, ronkindig@charter.net: along with:
